A survey of rheophytes was carried out in Cameroon, situated between 2°–13°N and 9°–16°E (Fig. (Fig.1). 1).Cameroon is generally divided into three main climatic zones: Equatorial climate zone, (2°–6°N), characterized by an annual average precipitation of mm, and an average temperature of about 25 °C; the Sudanese climate zone, (6°–10°N), characterized by Author: Felix Kuetegue, Bonaventure Sonké, Gabriel K. An overview of Nepenthes in the Philippines is presented. Four new species, Nepenthes extincta sp. nov., N. kitanglad sp. nov., N. kurata sp. nov. and N. leyte sp. nov. are described and illustrated from the Philippines and placed in the Nepenthes alata group. An updated circumscription and key to the species of the group is provided. Delimitation and comparison with the Regiae group is given. A detailed morphological and anatomical study of the tropical African genus Virectaria is presented. The observations are used to characterize the genus, to propose a key to all eight species, and to unravel the relationships between the species using by:

A rheophyte is an aquatic plant that lives in fast moving water currents in an environment where few other organisms can survive. Rheophytes tend to be found in currents that move at rates of 1 to 2 meters per second and that are up to 3 to 6 feet deep.

The purpose of the survey is to assess whether rheophytes can be used as indicators of pollution from, for example, effluents from human settlements and farming activities. An identification guide to Ghanaian rheophytes is to be produced.

This paper reviews progress made with the survey and the different classes of rheophytes in by: 3. Rheophytes of the World: an Account of the Flood‐resistant Flowering Plants and Ferns and the Theory of Autonomous Evolution.
